I still defy anyone to believe that Gwen Stefani is 45 years old. Quite frankly, I wouldn’t blame someone for thinking she was still in her twenties. She is such an inspiration to us all with an impressive music career already under belt, not to mention the three gorgeous kids she has with super-cool husband Gavin Rossdale. Furthermore, the sheer brilliance of Gwen Stefani doesn’t just extend to her seemingly perfect life, but also to her expert fashion credentials, critically acclaimed across the globe. Fashion credentials which, this month, see her grace the Spring/Summer edition of London-based fashion bible POP Magazine.
The recently released images from the shoot show Gwen adorned in a Paco Rabanne cropped suit, flashing her immaculately toned abs in a series of high fashion shots. These ridiculously well-toned abs are one of the defining factors that we still remember from her No Doubt days, stretching back almost 25 years ago now. Moreover, POP Magazine’s editorial director Ashley Heath actually went as far as to state that Gwen’s immaculate physique was one of main the reason’s why she was chosen for the cover: “There was no retouching or manipulation of Gwen’s body shape. That’s kind of the point. There was no need.”
Here at Boon Models (one of the top up-and-coming New York modeling agencies) we have always been great followers of Gwen Stefani’s style and when we heard about this particular interview with POP magazine honing in on what has inspired her fashion choices over the years, our ears most definitely pricked up.
The shoot was commissioned in Gwen’s hometown of LA, where the first shot (which also graces the cover) shows her leant back in a navy and scarlet bodycon top paired with low-waisted velvet skirt. This shoot is the epitome of ‘sports luxe’, which has become such a prominent theme with modern designers such as DKNY and Alexandar Wang, not to mention Gwen’s chosen outfit by Julien Dossena (Creative Director at Paco Rabanne).
Speaking of her fashion inspirations, Gwen sites old Hollywood movie stars as one of the first things to fist inspire her fashion choices, seeing as she grew up so close to where it was all happening. Another defining fashion-figure in her life that she describes is her very own mother, Patti, who apparently made all of her clothes and gave her the confidence to boldly create her own looks. It would seem that innovation is absolutely key in Gwen Stefani’s life and one of the defining features of her unique style. Therefore, we couldn’t be happier that she is still putting this out there, with a range of up-and-coming projects including a nail varnish range with OPI and taking part in this year’s season of The Voice.
