But never-ending crunches and cutting out all of your favorite foods definitely aren’t the right way to go about it. A sculpted physique and trim tummy can be accomplished easier than you’d think, simply by introducing some minor tweaks into your daily routine.

1. Get on your feet and walk

Our first tip really is as easy at it sounds. Especially if you’re lucky enough to live in a city where you pretty much don’t have a choice but to walk most places. It goes without saying that you should adopt more walking into your daily commute but how about asking your friends to go for a walk with you in the evening or on your lunch break? You’ll be able to get out in the fresh air – which is always a good thing – and can rest in the knowledge that you’re giving your core a necessary mini-workout.

2. Work on your posture while you walk

Once you’ve included more walking into your daily routine, you need to think about sculpting your physique so that the right muscles are getting the workout they need. The best way to do this is either to imagine a piece of string pulling your head and spine upwards (like a puppet) or to imagine a magnet pulling your spine inwards towards your belly button.

3. Start the Spring-Cleaning early

Any kind of housework, especially vacuuming, is considered a decent all-over workout and then there is the added bonus of having a clean house or apartment afterwards. Win/win, if you ask me.

4. Prioritize your shuteye

According to researchers at the University of Chicago “those who sleep 7 hours or more a night lose twice as much fat and are less hungry than those who don’t”. This statement speaks for itself really and another tip for added relaxation before you go to bed is to turn of all electrical equipment – yep, that includes cell phones – at least an hour before.

5. Add more fiber to your diet

Fiber really is one of the best sources to help you decrease your body fat, with many delicious fruit and vegetables such as apples, artichokes and broccoli containing significantly large amounts. So the more of these you can add to your daily meals, the more chance you have of burning away the fat.

6. Cut back on the condiments

In particular the feared enemy: salt. Cutting out salt may seem like a broken record to you by now but in this case it is all the more important because it makes your body retain water – particularly your stomach.

7. Cut back on the ‘booze’

Another one we’ve heard time and time again but ‘nothing worth having ever came easily’, or so they say. In this instance alcohol has the ability to raise cortisol levels, sending fat straight down to our tummies. Need I say more?

8. Why not add a bit of peanut butter?

Finally, some good news. Seeing as peanut butter contains 2% fat and 8% protein, it is the perfect addition to get our metabolisms moving. Not to mention the fact that it tastes amazing.

9. Hold on the sodas

This one is a no-brainer if you’ve ever felt bloated after drinking soda. Think of the bubbles, people, it makes all the sense in the world if you want to flatten your stomach so opt for a glass of water instead.
