Make-Up to Match Your Denim

I don’t know if anybody in their lifetime could have predicted how much of an unyielding impact denim was going to have on the fashion industry. It is always around us in some way: in our day to day fashion choices, our classy nights out on the town and even on the red carpet… I take it everyone’s thinking what I’m thinking – The Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake appearance, more recently leading to a replication from Katy Perry and Riff Raff at the 2014 MTV VMAS.

All jokes aside, with the seventies taking center-stage for the up and coming Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (taking place in NYC from February 12-19th), you can be rest assured that denim isn’t going anywhere. In fact it is going to manifest itself in even more ways than ever before. Especially now that we can presume that flairs and denim skirts are well truly back on the scene. Therefore, it is more important than ever that you don’t neglect your make-up styling and here at Boon Models (one of the top NYC modeling agencies) we have put together a list of things that you should try and remember to make denim styling that little bit easier…

If you are lucky enough to have freckles on your face then now is your time to shine, with many of the best make-up artists out there stating that they are the chicest addition to the ‘denim look’. If you’re not blessed in the freckle department but wish to experiment then you could always try drawing them on with a brow pencil but we can’t be held responsible for the results, so make sure you practice first before putting this into action!

For all the rest of us non-freckled people, its time to reach for your skin primers and highlighting pallettes. Oh yes we are going for matte skin and rosy cheeks with clearly defined glossy cheekbones.

The ‘denim look’, like its predecessors is all about the drama. The experts even say that the effortlessly cool signature smudgy black eye liner transcends perfectly to the simplicity of denim itself. Well, there you go then. Let’s get your most dramatic black liquid liner out and smudge, smudge, smudge. If you want to keep things really on-point then you could even add a light shade of blue to the corners of your eye sockets.

Every girl loves a bit of pink in her life and this is the perfect opportunity for you to bust out the chubby sticks (which Clinique are particularly renowned for) and apply a generous layer of the rosiest color you can find.

If you take the extra step and pull your hair up into a messy ponytail then I defy anyone not to look at you and be transported back to the Levi’s revolution of the nineties. Oh so cool.
